Nicholas Lorusso

Nicholas J. Lorusso is Of Counsel with the New Orleans office of Degan, Blanchard and Nash.

Mr. Lorusso received a B.A. in History from the University of New Orleans, a master's degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center of Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Following law school, Nick was commissioned into the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. After serving on active duty and in the Army Reserves for nearly three decades, culminating in command of the 91st Legal Operations Detachment in Chicago, Nick retired with the rank of Colonel in 2020. From 2007-2016, Nick served as an elected member of the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 94.

Mr. Lorusso served for six years as the Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Insurance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his tenure with the Department of Insurance, he also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.

Mr. Lorusso represents clients in the area of insurance defense and coverage, premises liability, medical malpractice defense, workers' compensation, employment law, contract disputes and maritime law. His litigation experience consists of both bench and jury trials, as well as practice at the appellate level.
