Bio

Joseph J. Aguda, Jr. is Of Counsel with Degan, Blanchard & Nash.

Mr. Aguda earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Loyola University City College and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2002 and has over two decades of litigation experience with a concentration in complex insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation.

Mr. Aguda has served as national trial counsel for private insurance carriers acting as fiscal agents of the United States, and has managed litigation in over 700 cases across 28 states. He has appeared before more than 40 U.S. District Courts and five U.S. Courts of Appeals, providing comprehensive legal services that include autonomous case management, strategic litigation planning, expert witness development, and both trial and appellate advocacy. He has played a leading role in coordinating national litigation strategies in response to major natural disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy, and the 2016 Louisiana floods.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Aguda served as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish, where he gained substantial courtroom experience prosecuting a wide array of criminal matters.
